Though I was born in Australia, I have always felt part of my heart is in my parents’ homeland of Cyprus.
Since I was a kid, I’ve visited the island regularly and with each visit my love of the island has grown.

WHY I LOVE CYPRUS
Let me tell you, there are endless reasons to love Cyprus: the coast, the vineyards, the mountains, the history.
But the reason I love Cyprus the most is its people.
Cypriots are known across Europe for their friendliness and hospitality and many visitors cite the warmth of the people as the reason they keep returning. Family is the center of life on the island, but friends are often considered extended family members.
It isn’t uncommon to find Cypriots gathering for tapas-like, multi-course meals called meze which can last for hours. That is another main factor of life in Cyprus, taking time to enjoy the moment.

SLOW LIFE HERE I COME
People all along the Mediterranean are known for their slower lifestyle, and that couldn’t be more true for Cypriots.
At any of the countless cafes – coffee and cafes are a central part of the community – you’ll find people of all ages drinking coffee with one another while playing backgammon for long stretches in the late morning and afternoon.
Whether it is taking the time to cook and enjoy a meal with loved ones or just taking a solitary walk along the coast at sunset, taking the time to appreciate the small, beautiful moments in life is just a part of the culture.

There is a kind of energy found on the island that I haven’t found anywhere else. I’m lucky enough to experience it year after year.
