Nothing beats a family-run, traditional taverna for good, down-to-earth, no frills, wholesome food, and To Kazani Traditional Taverna in Aradippou – a subdistrict of Larnaca – ticks all the boxes for an authentic experience.
The Restaurant
Visiting the restaurant is like taking a nostalgic journey back in time to olden-day Cyprus. Housed in an old, historical building which was once a Zivania distillery, the name of the restaurant translates to ‘the cauldron’ as the spirit was once made in large cauldrons. There are remnants of the building’s past and village life dotted throughout, with interesting artefacts and traditional touches. The service is warm, friendly and familiar thanks to its family-run ethos. The live music evenings are especially popular. Please note: the restaurant is only open for dinner and closed on Sundays.

The Menu
Patrons flock to the taverna for the traditional meze of many small dishes, with dishes changed to reflect what is fresh for each season. I particularly like eating here as they serve real, hand-cut potatoes; a hallmark of lovingly prepared Cypriot cuisine for me! Look out for seasonal delicacies such as snails and quail eggs, and the complimentary baklava served for dessert which is most definitely one of the best I have ever tasted. Away from the meze, the menu also has other grilled meat options and a couple of seafood dishes for non-meat eaters, although, even with the meat-heavy meze, vegetarians will still find plenty to enjoy from the dips, bread, cheeses, salads, vegetables, potatoes, buckwheat… and more.

This is what people are saying about to kazani
Been here more than once, everything is on point every time. But the hospitality is the number one, we feel like home ! The nights with live music are always my favourites! Keep it up guys
Delicious, great atmosphere, warm staff and reasonable price… an absolute gem
There’s only one way to describe to kazani…. Perfection.
I rarely write reviews but this place deserves praise. This is a moms and pops restaurant that is located in an authentic cypress house, with an ambiance that takes u back to historical cypress. We ate the most amazing, home made food. (The price…, more than reasonable). The Charm of this restaurant and the warm welcome by the staff was top of the line. I am vegan, my husband a carnivore… the vast selection of foods were equally satisfying to both of us. My husband asked a question about something on the menu…. Before we knew it, the papa of the restaurant took him into the kitchen and gave him a taste of the food item and raised a glass (2 actually) of some cypress homemade liquor.
In summary…an absolute gem.
