The one thing I cannot wait to have when I am in Cyprus is a typical Cypriot Mezze! One of my favourite places to go to is “TO ARXONTIKON”. The food is so fresh, so delicious and the service truly 5 star.
The Restaurant
The restaurant is housed in one of Larnaca’s most beautiful heritage buildings and its name translates to ‘the mansion’. It is the last well-maintained, old building to remain on the Finikoudes promenade and was once the grand home of foreign consulates, European merchants, and local financial magnates.
The traditional courtyard style of the building has been retained to create a very elegant restaurant interior. Outside seating at the front of the restaurant is also available, with views of the beach and sea. It is considered one of Larnaca’s top finer dining establishments.
The Menu
To Arxontikon offers the ultimate meze (a traditional feast of staggered small dishes), combining Cypriot and Greek dishes for a Mediterranean fusion experience. You can choose from either a fish or meat meze, and each one comes with over 25 dishes, along with traditional sweets to finish off the meal (I still haven’t been able to fit this in!).
Both the fish and meat mezes start with various dips, including tahini, hummus, and taramosalata. This is followed by salads and then your choice of meat or fish.
The fish meze includes fish patties, fresh-fried Greek smelt (small fry), deep-fried cod, deep-fried squid, grilled octopus, and prawn saganaki (a dish with tomatoes and herbs). Of course, this is nowhere near the complete list of dining delights on offer!
The meat meze consists of a variety of slow-cooked and grilled meat dishes, including pork chicken and lamb souvlaki (small cubes of skewered meat), sheftalies (sausages wrapped in pork caul), traditional patties, and lamb chops.

Excellent in every way. The courtesy of the staff riveting, awesome atmosphere, the food is gorgeous and at very good prices. Definitely a place that should and will be in my first choices.
